Leonhard Euler

Euler's Contributions

Leonhard added many different notations to modern mathematics. Most of the notation used today was introduced by Euler.
Here are some of the notations he introduced:
  • sine
  • cosine
  • e
  • pi
  • sigma
  • f for function
  • i

Leonhard also set foundations of continuum mechanics and lunar theory. He is said to have come up with so many different theories and ideas that most of them are not credited to him. Euler also came up with some theorems. Two of them are The Sumation of Series, and the Konigsburg Bridge Theorem.
